Micro Card Play was featured in the Kinokophonography Night, New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, USA September 8th 2014 and responds to the theme of ‘play’
The piece is a light-hearted compilation of ad hoc and very lo fi field recordings taken whilst on a boating holiday at the Norfolk Broads. Using a microcassette recorder to document boat engine noise, surrounding wildlife and tourist attractions visited. A microcassette recorder was specifically chosen for its immediate record/playback function, ease of use and appealing low fidelity sound quality.
The recording was edited together by devising a chance based operation using a pack of 52 playing cards.
